Hey everybody on today's video we are going to talk about the three absolute must-have pedals that I need for lap steel guitar. In no particular order, tuner, compressor, and overdrive. Number one, the chromatic tuner. I have several that I use depending on which board I have set up: from the TC Electronics to the Boss. I love them both equally as long as it's chromatic, I'm pretty happy. Number two, the Jackson Audio Bloom pedal. I love this pedal. I've been using it for about a year and a half now because it's not just

a compressor. It's an EQ pedal, a boost that can be used simultaneously, and independently. I love it. It's such a great pedal. It's easy to use and it works great with all my lap steels across the board. My runner-up compressor pedal has always been the Wampler Ego compressor. Off and on, this has been on my board for almost a decade now. I've had version 1, 2, and the mini. I love Wampler pedals, and I love this pedal. Number 3, is overdrive.

And some will say that's the most important. I've been using tube screamers with lap steels since I started playing lap steel. They just go together like peanut butter and jelly. It's creamy, it's delicious, just right. I've had just about every tube screamer on the market. Some of them I still have because I love them that much. The one I love the most, is the JHS Bonsai. It's pretty much perfect in every sense. It does everything I need a tube screamer to do. Every tube screamer sounds that you could possibly think of. This pedal has it. It allows me to dial which tube screamer I want to use for which amp I'm using that particular night. If I'm using my tube amps, if I'm using a solid-state amp, or my DI rig, I can fine-tune

the tube screamer sound that I want. My runner-up in the overdrive circuit is the Wampler Tumnus. I know it's not a tube screamer, it's a Klon, but it still does that amazing sound. The Tumnus pretty much always stays on my board anyway because it's my main sound for guitar. So if I don't have a tube screamer with me, it's always the Tumnus. Hope you enjoyed this video. Again, these are the three pedals that I need for me. This is just my opinion.

Nobody's right or wrong. It's all tone. I'd love to hear what you guys use with your lap steels. What kind of overdrives do you like? Do you use a compressor or not? How do you tune your lap steels? Let's start a conversation and let's see where this goes. Remember, life's too short for bad tone.
